Margaret Sova McCabe

Professor of Law

Margaret Sova McCabe

Margaret Sova McCabe has taught legal writing at Pierce Law since 2001. She teaches two sections of Legal Skills each semester and pursues academic interests in the analysis of effective legal writing and agriculture and food law. She is also a moot court board advisor.

Prior to teaching, she spent five years in government practice at the New Hampshire Department of Safety, Office of the Commissioner. During that time Professor McCabe learned the value of clear and concise communication skills as well as the importance of public service.

She served as vice chair of the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators Legal Services Committee and provided guidance to states on driver record privacy, low speed vehicle regulation and e–government issues.  Additionally, she was an associate with Fitzgerald & Sessler, P.A. of Laconia, NH where she maintained a general practice.

Today, McCabe continues her practice on a contract basis focusing on research and writing projects, particularly in municipal law, land use and civil litigation.

Of teaching first year students, she says, “I am so excited to teach such talented students and have the privilege of helping them turn their raw potential into practical legal skills. I truly believe that in order to be a great lawyer one must also be a great communicator.”

Professor McCabe lives with her family in Sanbornton, NH and in her free time she enjoys running, reading and baking.
