Spring 2009 Patent Landscape Team
MICHELLE WINDOM, Project Director, from New Orleans, Louisiana, is pursuing her J.D. degree and is currently a third year law student at Franklin Pierce Law Center. Ms. Windom graduated from Louisiana State University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Engineering, in 2004 from Tulane University with a Masters of Engineering in Biomedical Engineering and in 2006 from Pierce Law Center with a Masters in Intellectual Property Law. She is interested in utilizing her science background to pursue a career in patent litigation and prosecution.
ALEX FERRE, Team Leader, from Richmond, Virginia, is pursuing his J.D. degree and is currently a second year law student at Franklin Pierce Law Center. Mr. Ferre graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2007 with a B.S. in Biochemistry and a minor in Biology. He is interested in pursuing a patent litigation career and eventually working in-house in the biotechnology industry.
PRAVIN CONDA, from East Brunswick, New Jersey, is pursuing his J.D. degree and is currently a second year law student at Franklin Pierce Law Center. Mr. Conda graduated from Rutgers School of Engineering with a B.S. degree in Biomedical Engineering. After graduation, he spent much of his time working in process science labs of Johnson and Johnson gaining experience in designing and refining experiments. This past summer Mr. Conda gained valuable experience in patent prosecution and litigation through Griffith Hack, a leading intellectual property law firm in Sydney, Australia.
SWETHA MALADKAR, from India is pursuing her M.I.P. degree student at Franklin Pierce Law Center. Ms. Maladkar graduated from Vishveshwaraiah Technological University in 2005 with a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering and worked with an Indian patent attorney for two years prior to law school. She is interested in pursuing a career in Intellectual Property management and licensing.
RAMANI M V, from Bangalore, India, is pursuing her J.D./M.I.P. joint degree and is currently a first year law student at Franklin Pierce Law Center. Ms. Ramani obtained her Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, India. She has experience in both Indian and European patent law and is now interested in U.S. patent law. She is interested in pursuing a career in patent prosecution.
CHIKA TERANISHI, from Japan, is a JD candidate, is pursuing her J.D. degree and is currently a second year law student at Franklin Pierce Law Center. Ms. Teranishi graduated from Kyoto University in 2006 with a M.S. degree in Applied Bioscience and in 2004 with a B.S. degree in Agriculture. She is interested in pursuing a career in patent litigation and prosecution, utilizing her bioscience background.
KRISTAL WICKS, from Nashville, Tennessee, is pursuing her J.D. degree and is currently a second year law student at Franklin Pierce Law Center. Ms. Wicks graduated from Belmont University in 2006 with a B.S. degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Before coming to Pierce Law, she worked as a research assistant in biochemistry at Vanderbilt University. She is interested in pursuing a career in patent prosecution and intellectual property management.
Spring 2008 Patent Landscape Team
WEONMEE PARK, from Korea, is a MIP candidate, class of 2008. She practices patent law in Korea, specializing in biotechnology. Her interest in biology and IP law made her cross the Pacific Ocean twice: first, to get a PhD. in molecular biology from the University of Southern California and second, for the MIP. She has previously worked as a researcher and application specialist in a biotechnology firm.
ARSHDEEP KAUR SIDHU, from India, is a MIP candidate, class of 2008. Ms. Sidhu is a post-graduate from the Department of Biotechnology, Panjab University, Chandigarh, India, with MS and BS degrees, with honors, in Biotechnology. She wishes to utilize her biotechnology background to work in the field of intellectual property management and licensing.
YU-HUI SUNG, from Taiwan, is a JD candidate, class of 2009. Before going to Pierce Law, she worked for a top one hundred company in Taiwan for eight years as an in-house patent engineer. She helped to prosecute patents in Taiwan, US, and China. She supported discovery procedures for IP litigation in the US. Last summer, she searched and reviewed over 1000 US and Japanese patents for a US law firm.

Fall 2008 Patent Landscape Team
YU-HUI SUNG, from Taiwan, is a J.D. candidate, class of 2009. Before going to Pierce Law, she worked for Top one hundred companies in Taiwan for eight years as an in-house patent engineer. She helped to prosecute patents in Taiwan, U.S., and China. She supported discovery procedures for several IP litigations in the US. Last year, she searched and reviewed over 1000 US and Japanese patents and applications for her summer job.

CYRIL CHAN, from Andover, Massachusetts, is a J.D. candidate, class of 2010. Mr. Chan graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2007 with a B.S. degree in Materials Science & Engineering and a B.A. degree in English with distinction. Mr. Chan worked as a patent examiner intern at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in 2006 and 2007. He is interested in pursuing a career as a patent attorney.

He is interested in pursuing patent litigation career and eventually working in house in the biotechnology industry.
EE MING YAP, from Los Angeles, CA, is a J.D. Candidate, class of 2009. Ms. Yap graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2005 with a Bachelors of Arts in English. She spent much of her time there working in microbiology labs gaining experience in designing experiments and refining laboratory techniques. She worked as an intern for the in-house counsel at an electrical engineering company in El Segundo, CA. There she discovered her interest in intellectual property law. After graduation, she is excited to begin using her experience in technology and writing to advance a career in patent litigation.
CONSTANCE A. ROGERS, from North Carolina, is a J.D., L.L.M. candidate, class of 2009. Ms. Rogers graduated from North Carolina State University in 2002 with a BS degree in Biochemistry and a Minor in Biological Sciences, and in 2004 from North Carolina State University with a Master's Degree in Biochemistry. She is interested in pursuing a career in patent litigation and prosecution.
TRISTAN CARRIER, from Winslow, Maine, is a J.D. candidate, class of 2010. Mr. Carrier graduated from Boston University in 2007 with a B.S. degree in Biomedical Engineering. He is interested in pursuing a career in patent litigation and prosecution. Mr. Carrier is an avid snowboarder, golfer, and rugby player.
TODD PRATT, from Eugene, Oregon, is a J.D. candidate, class of 2009. Mr. Pratt graduated from Southern Oregon University in 2006 with a B.S. degree in Biology - Biological Sciences. As a result of his scientific background, Todd is pursuing a career in patent prosecution and litigation in the coming year.
BUMRAE CHO, from Seoul, South Korea, a J.D. candidate, class of 2009. Mr. Cho graduated from Yonsei University in 1996 with a B.S. degree in Food and Biotechnology, and a LL.M. degree in Intellectual Property Law. He has worked in a patent boutique in Korea for seven years as a patent engineer. During his work in the law firm, he has experienced diverse biotech patent litigations and freedom-to-operate searches for global pharmaceutical and biotech companies. He is interested in business development in biotech companies and law firms.
