Annual IP Summer Institute (IPSI)

20 YEARS OF IPSI

Franklin Pierce Law Center's Intellectual Property Summer Institute, established in 1987, is the most comprehensive academic summer program in intellectual property law and licensing (technology transfer) in the United States. Each year the Intellectual Property Summer Institute (IPSI) includes students from Pierce Law, students from ABA-accredited law schools and intellectual property attorneys and professionals from around the world.

IPSI brings together scholars, practitioners, government officials, and students in a single forum. Participants interact and share their diverse experiences and perspectives in a pleasant and relaxed New Hampshire environment, with mountains, lakes, seashore and golf courses nearby.

Courses are intensive, yet the atmosphere remains informal. Much of the curriculum is devoted to the development of sound practical intellectual property skills while other courses are more theoretical or international in approach. Up to six credits may be earned in five weeks in this concentrated, intensive program. Law students may gain professional practice skills, enabling them to "hit the deck running" when they enter intellectual property practice.
