Intellectual Property Mall

The IP Mall, created by Professor Jon R. Cavicchi, has been a highly well received web megasite and portal for well over a decade. The IP Mall was created well before most of the current IP resources were offered by national IP offices, nongovernmental organizations and commercial entities.

Our mission is to offer unique content not available on these other Web sites. This content includes:

  • Pierce Law produced papers and scholarship
  • Public domain content not online (e.g. Congressional Research Service Reports, Copyright Office Appeals Decisions and Compendium and legislative history documents)
  • Primary sources of law spanning time periods before other Web collections (e.g. U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Appeals Board decisions)
  • Unique dedicated topical portals (e.g. Traditional Knowledge Online)
  • News (e.g. Blogs, web news matrix and RSS feeds)
  • Miscellaneous content from IP Mall users looking for a place to host their works
  • Fun stuff (e.g. galleries of famous patents and patent models)

Jorda on Trade Secrets Blog

Over his career of fifty years in industry and academia Professor Karl F. Jorda has assembled quite a few credos, insights and truisms about trade secrets, in general, and three salient trade secret issues, in particular, namely:

  1. The importance of trade secrets;
  2. The complementarity of patents and trade secrets; and
  3. The importance of trade secrets in technology licensing and tech transfer.

The blog looks at the above three broad topics in much greater detail and question deep-seated misconceptions about Trade Secrets and the Patent/Trade Secret interface in an attempt to demonstrate that,

  • Know-How and Trade Secrets are not synonymous,
  • Trade Secrets are not secrets,
  • Patents and Trade Secrets dovetail inextricably,
  • The "Best Mode" requirement is no impediment,
  • Touted differences between Patents and
  • Trade Secrets are not there,
  • A Trade Secret owner has de facto prior user rights
  • As well as others.
TRADE SECRETS VAULT BLOG IS A PIERCE LAW EXCLUSIVE GLOBAL OFFERING

Karl F. Jorda, Professor Emeritus was the David Rines Professor of Intellectual Property Law as well as the Director of the Germeshausen Center for the Law of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Franklin Pierce Law Center where he taught primarily Technology Licensing and IP Management.

Trade Secrets Vault

Professor Jon R. Cavicchi has opened the Vault to the world and shares a wide range of information on trade secrets. The intent of this blog is to raise consciousness as to the range, extent, predominance and role trade secrets play in day to day business and legal environments. The sources of the blogs vary from new on the web, proprietary sources on the hidden web, jury verdicts, court opinions, reports by government and NGOs around the globe as well as fun stuff such as trivia questions about products that are the subject of trade secrets. It is designed as a blog to keep anyone interested in trade secrets coming back for more up to date news and data.

The Vault compliments the Pierce blog, Jorda on Trade Secrets - The Interface Between Patents and Trade Secrets.

Pierce Law also offers blogs on the day-to-day experience of students in the summer IP Institutes in China and Ireland.
